Degree Completion

Diploma to degree at UCW Transferring Existing College or University Credits
University Canada West accepts coursework from other educational institutions. Students may have their academic coursework or diplomas assessed by the university and apply earned credits towards an undergraduate degree. International students may also be eligible to receive credit for courses or programs completed outside of North America.

For more information on transferring existing course work, please contact an Enrolment Representative.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) in relation to Degree Completion
In addition to transfer credits, students may partake in the Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR) process. The PLAR process examines learning and training completed outside of traditional university classrooms, and determines whether these learnings are equivalent to the curriculum in the students’ intended undergraduate program of choice. If so, credit may be granted and can be applied to the student’s undergraduate program.

Training that may be eligible for PLAR includes:
  • professional training
  • corporate training (if relevant to program of choice)
  • certificates and licenses
  • courses taken through non-traditional formats

For more information on PLAR, please contact an Enrolment Representative.
